O Trilho de São Bento estende-se ao longo da encosta sudoeste da freguesia de Rio Caldo e caracteriza-se pela existência de locais de interesse histórico-cultural e de cariz religioso, num percurso sempre em torno da Basílica de São Bento da Porta Aberta, que se apresenta como segundo local de romagem a nível nacional, e tem as suas principais romarias a 21 de março, 11 de julho e, principalmente a 12 e 13 de agosto.
Além do caráter religioso, este trilho tem como outros atrativos, o antigo forno de fabrico de carvão, denominado de Furna, e o Fojo do Lobo, que demonstram e confirmam a relação de coexistência vivencial, com benefícios e malefícios, entre o homem e determinados animais, inclusive o urso e o lobo.
The São Bento Trail – extends along the southwest slope of the parish of Rio Caldo and is characterized by the existence of places of historical-cultural and religious interest, in a route always around the Basilica of São Bento da Porta Aberta, which presents itself as the second place of pilgrimage at national level, and has its main pilgrimages on March 21st, July 11th and, mainly, August 12th and 13th.
In addition to its religious nature, this trail has other attractions such as the old coal oven, called Furna, and Fojo do Lobo (wolftrap), which demonstrate and confirm the relationship of experiential coexistence, with benefits and harms, between man and certain animals, including the bear and the wolf.
